KIPP New Orleans Schools recentlly opened their doors to a new school year, marking the start of our 20th year serving the students and families of New Orleans. The first day was filled with the energy and excitement of both returning students and those just beginning their KIPP journey, all eager to learn and grow.
Reflecting on two decades of growth, it’s clear that our strength lies in the close-knit community we've built together. This year, the sense of coming home was stronger than ever. As students settled into their classrooms, the familiar faces of dedicated teachers and staff greeted them, ready to continue the journey of learning that we’ve all embarked on together.
"We started with a bold promise to build academically excellent schools, and 20 years later, that promise has grown alongside our students. We've watched them grow up with us, and as we enter this milestone year, we're more committed than ever to creating a future where every student’s potential is realized," said Amber Mills, Principal of KIPP Leadership Academy.
Throughout our schools, students quickly embraced the routines that set the stage for a year of success. From the first bell, it was clear that our shared commitment to high expectations and strong habits would guide us through this milestone year.
One student, Avery Jackson, a first-grade student at KIPP Central City Primary, reflected on the first day, saying, "I am happy to be back. I missed my friends and my teachers, and I’m excited for everything we’re going to learn this year."
As we move forward, we remain focused on what has always made KIPP special: our dedication to creating a supportive, challenging, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. The first days of this school year have shown us that, even after 20 years, the heart of KIPP New Orleans Schools remains as strong as ever.
We’re excited to continue growing up together, building on our shared history, and making this year one of the best yet.
